The four registers
Every sensitive statement on this site carries one of four labels. The label states what kind of statement it is, not whether we believe it. A well-sourced allegation is still an allegation until a court rules.
A decision entered on the record, or a fact established by primary documents: arrest dates, filings, listings. Quoted with citation.
A claim by prosecutors, claimants or complainants that has not been tested to judgment. Always attributed to its author.
The stated response of Mr. Tate or his counsel. Reported with the same fidelity as the allegations it answers.
Reported by others or self-reported by a party, and not independently confirmed by us. Includes all business figures without an audit trail.
One rule above all: gold is our structural colour — navigation, section marks, the front-page rule. It never labels information. The registers keep their own colours so editorial rigour is never confused with branding.
Hierarchy of sources
Judgments, indictments, warrants, court listings, official statements by prosecuting authorities. Cited with neutral citation or docket reference wherever one exists.
Reuters, AP, AFP and accredited reporters present in court. Used for hearings we cannot attend, always named in the source block.
Reporting that names its sources or documents. Anonymous single-source claims are not republished; they are either confirmed or omitted.
Statements by Mr. Tate, his companies, his counsel, or claimants' representatives. Published as positions or claims, tagged Unverified when no independent confirmation exists.
Corrections
Any error of fact, whether a date, a charge, a status or an attribution, is corrected in the article, marked with the correction date, and logged permanently on a dedicated page. Corrections are never silent.
Each entry in the log states the claim as originally published, the demonstration of the error against primary sources, and the corrected text. We do not name the accounts or individuals who surfaced the error unless they ask to be credited.
The record runs in both directions
This site is not advocacy and not counter-advocacy. We publish developments favourable to Mr. Tate (dismissed evidence, lifted restrictions, decisions not to charge) with the same prominence and the same sourcing as developments against him. The 2019 CPS decision not to prosecute appears wherever the 2025 charges do.
We use no adjectives of character in either direction. The proceedings, the filings and the dates speak; we keep the ledger.
